Plant teaching resources

Worksheets and lesson ideas to challenge students aged 11 to 16 to think hard about plant reproduction and photosynthesis (GCSE and Key Stage 3)

Plants can get quite a bad press at school. Many science teachers did not enjoy plant science and this sometimes prevents them from using plants in lessons. But plants are cool! They make their own food, can have sex with themselves and feed the world. Plants are incredibly useful to science teachers too. They are generally safe to use in experiments and inexpensive to buy and look after. They can also represent a more challenging and interesting context to teach some biological principles such as classification, MRS GREN and respiration. For some excellent practical activities specific to plants, visit SAPS (Science and Plants for Schools).
